First Known Alpha Magic Square in Pig
Latin - I Think
The faculty, staff
and students at MBIOM (Mr. B's Institute of Mathematology) worked together to find the first Alpha Magic Square
written in Pig Latin. We believe that this is the first Alpha Magic Square
discovered that uses Pig Latin.
Start with the
following magic square:
5
22
18
28
15
2
12
8
25
Now consider the
array of corresponding number names written in Pig Latin (also known as igpay
atinlay):
ivefay
enty-twotway
eighteenay
enty-eighttway
ifteenfay
otway
elvetway
eightay
enty-fivetway
Counting the letters
in each number name generates the following square which turns out to also be
magic:
6
11
10
13
9
5
8
7
12
